Descripción
Sumario:This article highlights the historical, cultural and tourist importance of the archaeological site of Santa Elena in the State of Tabasco, Mexico. Through the implementation of an archaeological research project and a comprehensive and integrated Management Plan, this project aims to carry out actions for preserving and enhancing the cultural value of the site and its ecological environment. With the participation of the most extensive and diverse public and private sectors in the three levels of Government (Federal, State and Municipal), we are planning to develop a local and regional Integrated Management Plan, for the sustainable development of the archaeological and environmental resources that includes public access to the site. Thanks to this perspective, Santa Elena will become a relevant source of information for historical, cultural knowledge, identity and ecotourism, which will benefit the actual neighboring and nearby communities.
