Sumario:This study reviews in theory the roles played by the values of the main analog to digital (ADC) converter parameters in the maximum number of samples per second (sampling rate) for an analog reference signal. These parameters are present in the middle and advanced families of Microchip´s microcontroller units (MCU). The tradeoffs between the characteristics of the input signal, the resolution of the data required by the application and the device characteristics, are determined with the purpose of maximizing the sampling rate and benchmarking the performance of three ranges of Microchip´s PIC MCU according to their specifications
