%0 Artículo (Article) %A Romero Rey, Sandro %I Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas %D 2017 %G Español (Spanish) %T The Zoom LensandtheMask:Greek Tragedy in Film %U http://hdl.handle.net/11349/18804 %X Before writing his doctoral thesis entitled “Gender and Destiny: the Greek tragedy in Colombia”, Sandro Romero Rey had made an extensive study on the presence of Greek tragedy throughout the history of world cinema.Apparently, the languages of the so-called “seventh art” quarrel with the spe-cificities of the theater, and somehow the works of Aeschylus, Sophocles or Euripides were presented as the most distant models to be translated through the gaze of the camera.In the present study, the different mechanisms from which the oldest form of western dramaturgy has been interpreted on the screens are discussed.The whole of this text ser-ved as final work for Romero Rey`s Masters in the University of Paris VIII.
