Accordingly, we need to fully understand both the internal forces leading to the multiple forms of violence in daily life and the resources we have to counteract their effect in personal and political narratives. I explore particularly two emotions: anger, and compassion as its best antidote. Understanding the cognitive structure of each of these two emotions, makes it possible to evaluate their normative role and mainly to stress how, according to Nussbaum and Thich Naht Hahn, there is a sort of natural transition from anger towards compassion, movement that becomes a privileged device in the direction to a just and democratic society.
