Sumario:In recent years it has been possible to see an increase in the number of animalsused for company in homes, which leads to strengthening the affective bonds and the understanding of the economic and legal implications of pets possession, these are explicitwithin a normative framework that establishes the foundations for an adequate coexistencein society. The present investigation shows a detailed study of the Colombian normativityrelated to the possession of domestic animals (dog and cat) as companion animals in themunicipality of Florencia, department of Caquetá. A legal framework is available Colombia. It´s application faces the ignorance on the part of owners, aggressors and entities responsiblefor regulating and judging violations of the norm, a fact that becomes evident in cases ofmistreatment of pets and abuse of domestic fauna .Plus the absence of actions of socialand cultural transformation towards wildlife by the administrations. The main difficultieshighlighted in this investigation were: lack of knowledge and deficient administration ofthe normative guidelines in force and the limited institutional articulation responsible formissionary compliance, incurring in apparent prevarication by omission and frank violationof the constitutional principle of administrative coordination
