The coatings werestudied using XRD, Nanohardness, wear and COFusing Ball on Disc and corrosion tests by LPR(Linear Polarization Resistance) and Tafel curves.The XRD pattern showed (111) characteristicsorientation of CrN (FCC) and δ – Cr phase.The coatings hardness showed a dependence ofsubstrate material, such that the wear and frictioncoefficient change too. The corrosion speedon saline environment decreases for all coatedsubstrates, but mayor changes were produced onAISI 304 stainless steel and AISI 1075 steel. Thesetests were carried out in a 3, 5% NaCl solutions. Se depositaron bicapas de cromo y nitruro decromo CrN/Cr sobre sustratos de acero AISI304, AISI 1075 y AISI 4140 por el método deMagnetrón Sputtering Reactivo DC. Se realizaronpruebas: estructurales XRD, nanodureza, desgasteusando Pin on Disc y electroquímicas: utilizandoEspectroscopia de Impedancia electroquímica(EIS) y curvas Tafel. El patrón XRD mostro lafase cubica del CrN caracterizado por el planocristalográfico (111), adicionalmente se encontróla fase δ – Cr. Se determino la dureza de losrecubrimientos, la cual varío respecto al sustratoutilizado y espesor, el cual depende del procesode crecimiento dependiendo de las característicasdel sustrato, lo que conllevo a un cambio en elcoeficiente de fricción y desgaste. Se observó unareducción importante de la velocidad corrosióndel acero AISI 304 con recubrimiento seguidopor el AISI 1075 y el AISI 4140 en comparacióncon los aceros sin recubrimiento.
