The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of perceived health status (PHS), socioeconomic and educational status, about the capabilities of self-care (CSC) in two groups of pregnant women with and without preeclampsia. Methodology: The design was descriptive and comparative probability sampling. The sample size was n = 96 pregnant women with and without preeclampsia, this figure is set to 100 women and 10% was added to soften the phenomenon of attrition, resulting in n = 110. The measurements included basic factors conditioning variables (education and socioeconomic status) and the filling of two scales to estimate CSC and PHS. Results: The average age was between 19 and 24 years, mean and standard deviation of each group did notdiffer significantly for both variables (preeclampsia X=28, SD = 7.23; without preeclampsia X=25, SD=5.99). Over 80% of the sample had primary and secondary, 90% of women did not get paid. The perceived health status influences the capabilities of self-care in women without preeclampsiaF(54)=10.205 p=.002, adjusted R2 =.161. Conclusions: The study findings show that the CSC and the PHS are different in women with and without preeclampsia, however for PES was not statistically significant.
