Sumario:This descriptive research analyzes the different perceptions journalists from the Colombian Caribbean have on the possible changes in the local journalism due to the incorporation of new technologies on their work field in Monteria and Cartagena de Indias (Colombia). The journalists have found that the cities have been greatly benefited by the TIC regarding access to information sources, facilitation of editing work, and content editing; however, they highlight some inappropriate uses of technology that are affecting the journalistic quality in some information companies: the loss of contact with reality and sources, the reduction of the career to broadcasting of information or news, and the exercise of journalism in the light of technological competences that leave out the professional and ethical competences.
