To finally recognize that the institutional environment in their characteristics can be compared to a total institution, as are prisons and psychiatric hospitals, this entails an experience that can inhibit adolescent social development primarily, but also their ability to cope with everyday life . It is recognized that the way it is raised institutional rule is idealized in their training and involves a significant limitations to the insert individual in this medium.

En este artículo se referencia un análisis cualitativo de la intervención del Estado colombiano sobre menores institucionalizados, a partir de referentes como el marco de legalidad del Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar, en contraste con Erving Goffman y el concepto de instituciones totales. El proceso se desarrolló a partir de entrevistas en profundidad con actores claves del medio institucional, como son los adolescentes institucionalizados y sus formadores; este es un análisis descriptivo de la vivencia de los menores con respecto a la protección que el medio institucional les proporciona. Finalmente se reconoce que el medio institucional, en sus características, puede ser comparado con una institución total, como lo son cárceles y hospitales psiquiátricos; que esto conlleva una vivencia del adolescente que puede inhibir primordialmente su desarrollo social, pero también su capacidad para afrontar la vida cotidiana. Se reconoce que la manera como es planteada la norma institucional es idealizada en su formación e implica unos limitantes significativos para el individuo inserto en este medio. Este artigo apresenta uma análise qualitativa da intervenção do Estado colombiano em crianças institucionalizadas, a partir de referências, como o quadro jurídico do Instituto Colombiano de Bem-Estar Familiar, em contraste com Erving Goffman eo conceito de instituições totais, referenciado o processo desenvolvido a partir de entrevistas em profundidade com os principais intervenientes no ambiente institucional, como adolescentes institucionalizados e seus formadores, esta é uma análise descritiva da experiência das crianças no que diz respeito à proteção que o ambiente institucional proporciona. Para finalmente reconhecer que o ambiente institucional em suas características pode ser comparado a uma instituição total, assim como prisões e hospitais psiquiátricos, o que implica uma experiência que pode inibir o desenvolvimento social do adolescente, principalmente, mas também a sua capacidade de lidar com a vida cotidiana.
