Sumario:Since years ago, one of the major concerns of the industrialized governments is the evaluation of public policy. The big difference between the evaluation with respect to others techniques of management improvement, focused on economic control and regulatory compliance, is that the evaluation nowadays, it appears completely attached to social aspects, from democratic transparency and it has a narrow relationship with the publicizing of its reports and the participation of all actors that come into play. This article will discuss legally, the phase of evaluation and monitoring of the environmental policies, about their strengths and deficiencies, keeping in mind the importance of this part in the public policy´s cycle, and the consequences or disadvantages that could show up when it is not carried out efficiently and not accomplish with the goal of making monitoring to the environmental policies adopted.
